Bringing the soul of Ghanaian cooking home, wherever home is. Authentic West African recipes made simple for the diaspora.
I'm Ama. I grew up in Ghana, moved to the US at seventeen with my family, and eventually ended up living in a different state from them , which means far from my mom's kitchen. And my mom? She is an incredible cook. Growing up, the house always smelled like something good. Always Ghanaian food, always homemade, always made with time and love.
When I moved out on my own, I missed that. I missed home. So I taught myself how to cook the food I grew up eating, because Ghanaian food doesn't come easy. It takes time, specific spices, specific techniques. But I figured out how to make it work around a full life. A job, a busy schedule, a kitchen far from Ghana.
That's what Amasavor is. It's me sharing how I cook the food I miss, in the easiest way possible, so that anyone can do it. Whether you grew up eating this food and haven't tasted it since you left home, or you've never tried it and want to , you don't have to go to a restaurant. You can make it yourself. Because everybody can cook. And every kitchen can taste like home.
